Anonymous sent: how do you design your ocs clothes?

“it’s mostly lots of crying and whining about boys fashion for hours” - @sketcheddy

HONESTLY it might be really obvious and “i knew that already”ish but i try and match their clothes with their personality and hobbies and stuff! i’ll try and write a few examples with some of my kiddos so sorry if this gets long!!

like for avery he’s always cold, borderline frozen, so i always give him lots of warm things to wear like hoodies (multiple) and sweatpants, and because his superhero self is based on a dragon i theme his clothes around that a bit too - like the little dragon wings on the back of his hoodie and dragon design on his hoodie! he has kind of a grumpy rude personality so i theme the colours around that, darker and dull aside from a few small details.. it’s also kind of a trait about him that he’s small and underweight too so i always try and make his clothes look baggier as if he’s trying his best 2 buy as much fabric as possible

for jamie he’s super outgoing and extroverted and has a bright personality, he plays guitar and loves football so i suppose his clothes are designed around those too - bright colours like his red jeans (not afraid to stand out, in fact probably tries to) a varsity jacket with his football..number… on the back as well as his initials on the front, the tee he wears has a music design on it plus he wears his headphones all the time so he can listen to music and stuff !!!

one last example i could use is inga too but not quite as in depth cause i haven’t developed her much but i give her more ‘battle’ or.. rural?? themed clothing because of where she lives and the fact she fights and has to look the part, but i try and give it an almost… elegant, not-scary theme to it too?? lots of cold colours to represent her ice powers and calm personality, and little crescent moons on her clothes because she was born on a crescent moon!

i would say i google outfits but i’d be lying, i never find google image outfits to be very inspiring or interesting so i usually just… kind of make them up as i go along! i sketch out multiple different variations until i’m happy with what i see and go from there!! it’s always an idea to look at clothes from your favourites stores tho, like i love the stuff in forever21 and boohoo so i’m pretty sure i could find inspiration from those if i had to

it’s not great advice at all but i hope it’s some insight into how i personally go about things! sorry i wrote so much aaaaa OTL
